Nick is a graduate of the University of Antwerp (Law Degree, 2014) and the Antwerp Management School (Real Estate Law, 2018). Prior to founding Ace Law in 2020, he worked at a top-tier Belgian law firm.

Sophie acts as an Ace consultant monitoring client output for qualitative, clear and to-the-point legal drafting. She will also assist Ace Law in providing added-value services to our clients…

Sophie has over ten years of experience as a financial regulatory expert. Capitalising on her payments knowledge, she left the bar to become a payments consultant. In that capacity she currently runs PayBelgium, the voice of the Belgian payments industry. As a former lawyer and a fierce advocate for qualitative, clear and to-the-point legal drafting, Sophie also acts as an Ace consultant monitoring client output and challenging the Ace lawyers to perfect their drafting skills. In addition Sophie will host seminars for clients on legal drafting and provide input on their template documents.

Prior to co-founding PayBelgium and supporting Ace Law as a consultant, Sophie was a financial regulatory lawyer at a magic circle law firm for almost ten years. Clients praised her clear legal drafting, the principles of which she has always sought to convey to clients and colleagues through legal drafting courses.

Sophie holds a master’s degree in law (KU Leuven 2009) and a master of science degree in law and finance (University of Oxford 2011).

Michael Truyen

Michael brings 15+ years of experience in capital markets and corporate M&A on both sides of the lawyer-client relationship.

Over the years he developed a particular sector focus on B-REITs (Société Immobilière Réglementée (SIR)/Gereglementeerde VastgoedVennootschap (GVV)) as well as on biotech growth companies. As a tech-savvy lawyer, Michael plays a pivotal role in the set-up and roll-out of Ace Digital. Prior to joining Ace Law, Michael was the general counsel of Xior Student Housing, a B-REIT listed on Euronext Brussels and Chief Legal Officer at the Belgian (then newly-)listed bio-pharmaceutical company Mithra Pharmaceuticals. He in turn joined Mithra Pharmaceuticals from Eubelius Lawyers, where he attained the position of associated partner. Michael is a graduate from the University of Leuven (2003) holding degrees in both Law and Applied Economics.

Didier is a graduate of the University of Leuven (Law degree, 2008 and Postgraduate Corporate Finance, 2012), of the University of Edinburgh (LL.M., 2009) and of the University of Brussels (Master Corporate Law, 2010). Prior to founding Ace Law in 2020, he worked at an international law firm and a top-tier Belgian law firm.

Wouter Verhelst

Wouter is a graduate of the University of Leuven (Law degree, 2011 and Postgraduate Corporate Finance, 2015) and of the Antwerp Management School (Master of Global Management, 2012). Prior to founding Ace Law in 2020, he worked at an international law firm.

Bert Van Camp

Bert is an experienced corporate finance lawyer with over 15 years of experience in capital markets, W&I insurance, private equity funds and corporate M&A work.

Bert is a graduate of the University of Leuven (Law degree 2002) and of the University of Brussels (Master Corporate Law, 2003). Prior to joining Ace, Bert worked at an international insurance broker, an international bank-insurance group and a top-tier Belgian law firm.

Mystica Van Belle

Mystica acts as a debt advisory consultant. She advises the Ace clientele in negotiating the best possible terms on financing opportunities that suit the client’s organization and capital structure.

This debt advisory service includes leveraged finance, refinancing of existing debt, asset finance, distress finance, operational financing options and funding of future growth. Next to almost 10 years at a magic circle law firm, Mystica worked as a senior advisor structured finance at a large Belgian bank. Having worked on both sides of the bank-client relationship, Mystica is perfectly placed to support clients in their negotiations with credit institutions and the legal aspect of their financial engineering.
